Things to Do in Hinton, Alberta

If you’re traveling to Jasper National Park for a vacation, consider staying in Hinton. Located just 20 km from the park, Hinton is an affordable, convenient alternative to the inflated prices of Jasper, and features many attractions of its own. In the summer, the area offers great fishing, hiking, golf, rafting, and more, while the winter season features some of Canada’s best skiing, as well as plenty of shopping and indoor entertainment options.

Conveniently located along Hinton’s main Yellowhead Highway, the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is within walking distance to several restaurants, Tim Hortons Coffee and a short drive to the Parks West Mall. We are just a few minutes by car from the Hinton Healthcare Centre and the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre.

Fishing

With countless lakes, rivers and streams all bursting with fish, the Hinton area is a fisher’s dream. Hiking And Cross-Country Skiing

Explore the trails around the Beaver Boardwalk, Hardisty Creek, Happy Creek, Thompson Lake, Maxwell Lake and several other hiking trails in the Hinton area. Mountain Biking

Hinton is home to a fantastic Bike Park, with a skills area, 30 acres of park space and an extensive trail system. The skills area has wooden, rock and natural skills features, with high skinnies, teeter totters, narrow to wide bridges and a beginner pump track.

Golfing

The Hinton Golf Club has been lovingly nicknamed by golfers as The Enchanted Forest for is picture-perfect course. The Golf Club features 18 holes, a driving range with a putting and chipping area, a licensed clubhouse with mountain and course views, golf lessons, and rentals.

Winter Sports

The Hinton Nordic Centre boasts 35 km of expertly groomed trails for classic skiing, with day passes and ski rentals available. There is a biathlon course loop, cross-country skiing and a rustic day lodge to relax in after a day in the snow.

Hinton may be a small town, but there is certainly no lack of great places to eat! At the hotel, we offer an on site restaurant, Tokyo Sushi, with many delicious Japanese cuisine items.
